​**The FY27 program is now OPEN for applications**

Program Description: The Maryland Energy Administration is pleased to announce funding for the Residential Energy Equity Program.   Funding is offered under three Areas of Interest (AOIs):  

  • AOI 1: Energy Efficiency Projects
  • AOI 2: Solar Energy & Energy Storage Projects
  • AOI 3: Appliance Only Installations
Target Audience: The Residential Energy Equity Program is open to non-profit organizations and local government entities and is designed to support energy efficiency and renewable energy projects that benefit Maryland residents experiencing low-to-moderate incomes.

Program Type: Competitive Grant Program

Anticipated Program Budget:
  • AOI1 - $33,396,905
  • AOI2 - $6,000,000 ($1,000,000 for energy storage)
  • AOI3 - $1,600,000
Eligible organizations and entities may apply for any or all AOIs.  Grants are awarded for qualifying projects that generate significant reductions in residential energy usage and pass on the benefits to income-qualifying Maryland residents.

As this program is serving only residential building types, those interested in funding for commercial buildings should review the full list of available MEA Incentives here

NOTE: A solar PV system that has already received funding from the Maryland Energy Administration’s Maryland Solar Access Program (“MSAP”) is not eligible for Residential Energy Equity Program grant funding.​ MEA will cancel a grantee reimbursement request for a home that has received MSAP funding. No exceptions will be made.  

An energy storage system that has already received funding from Residential and Commercial Energy Storage Program (RCES) is not eligible for Residential Energy Equity Program grant funding.  MEA will cancel a grantee reimbursement request for a home that has received RCES funding.  No exceptions will be made.
