Medium-Duty and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicle Grant Program

Notice of Intent for Fiscal Year 2027: The Maryland Energy Administration is pleased to announce the intent to award grants on a competitive basis to help defray the costs of purchasing qualified, newly manufactured zero emission medium-duty or heavy-duty fleet vehicles, qualified heavy equipment property, and electric school buses. MEA expects to begin accepting applications in Summer 2026. Further updates will be posted on this webpage. Final program parameters and application instructions will be included in the FY27 Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA).

Program Purpose: The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is offering grants to purchase qualifying zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) and heavy equipment for commercial or industrial use. This program provides grants to Maryland fleet companies, organizations, and communities to help defray the costs of purchasing qualified, newly manufactured zero emission medium-duty or heavy-duty zero-emission fleet vehicles and qualified heavy equipment property. 

Eligibility:
  • Fleet companies, organizations, and communities in Maryland are encouraged to apply. 
  • See the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for full details of the Medium and Heavy-Duty Zero Emission Vehicle Grant Program below. 
Funding: 
  • Up to $10 million available in Fiscal Year 2026. 
  • Grants cover up to 75% of the incremental cost of eligible vehicles and heavy equipment property. 
  • Separate funding pools for on-road vehicles and off-road equipment property. ​
Application Deadline: Applications are due on November 20, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. ET.
