FY25 Geothermal Rebate Program
Main_Content
*NEW MEA GEOTHERMAL HEATING AND COOLING REBATE PROGRAM*
PROGRAM OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS
Program Purpose: The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) FY25 Geothermal Rebate Program is provided to help eligible Maryland residents, businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies (Maryland State and local) with the cost of geothermal heating and cooling (GHC) systems that they have installed at their properties. GHC systems provide energy-efficient heating and cooling using the ground temperature, and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from more traditional heating and cooling systems that rely on fossil fuels.
They are also known as "ground-source heat pumps." This Program replaces geothermal rebates offered under the discontinued Residential and Commercial Clean Energy Rebate Programs.
Type of Program: The Geothermal Rebate Program is offered to Maryland residents, businesses, nonprofits, and Maryland state and local government agencies on a
noncompetitive, first-come, first-served basis. Rebate applicants must meet all eligibility requirements specified in the Program's Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), found in the "Program Documents" section below.
Areas of Interest: The Geothermal Rebate Program provides rebates to eligible applicants under the following Areas of Interest (AOIs). Full eligibility details for each AOI are found in the FOA.
-
AOI 1: Maryland Residential Properties: A Maryland resident who has installed an eligible GHC system at a single-family home (including townhouses) in Maryland. Multifamily properties do not qualify.
-

no later than 3:00 P.M. ET, June 13, 2025. Please note, the issuance of a rebate by MEA is not assured if the Program budget has been exhausted.
