Maryland Making It Easier to Plug in Your Ride, No Matter Where You Reside

$9 million in Community EV Supply Equipment grants available for new chargers at apartments, condos, dorms, grocery stores, healthcare facilities, parks and more

BALTIMORE – The Maryland Energy Administration today announced the opening of the application window for funding through the Fiscal Year 2026 Community Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Grant Program. These grants support the installation of charging stations at multi-family dwellings, commercial centers and other public points of interest to make the benefits of EV ownership accessible to more Marylanders.

The Community EV Supply Equipment Grant Program anticipates $9 million in available funding to install EV chargers at apartment and condo buildings, dorms, strip malls, grocery stores, healthcare facilities, parks and other community hubs.

Businesses, non-profits, educational institutions and local governments all can apply.

“Maryland is beginning to see considerable cuts in greenhouse gas emissions due to the expansion of EVs, and the Community EVSE program is designed to build on that momentum,” said Maryland Energy Administration Acting Director Ian Ullman. “This program seeks to put more chargers in more places that are accessible by more people, extending the lower costs of EV ownership to a growing number of multi-family housing sites and community hubs."

Funds are provided to help applicants offset EV supply equipment installation costs for Level 2 and Level 3 chargers.

Most applicants are eligible for maximum grants of $750,000. School districts and local governments are eligible for up to $1 million.

The deadline for applications is February 25, 2026 at 3:00 PM ET.
