BALTIMORE – The Maryland Energy Administration today published a request for information (RFI) that seeks feedback from the consumer solar industry and the public at large for the next round of its Maryland Solar Access Program. This popular grant program was made possible last year by the Maryland General Assembly’s Brighter Tomorrow Act (Chapter 595, 2024 Acts of Maryland). Maryland residents meeting certain income requirements can receive grants that help with the cost of installing solar energy generating systems at their homes. The program offers up to $7,500 toward a qualifying solar energy system. The Maryland Energy Administration is looking for specific feedback in the following areas: - The program’s application process
- Participating solar contractors and third-parties
- Maryland Solar Access Program Consumer Protection Policy
Specific questions for each category can be found in the RFI, which is available on the Maryland Solar Access Program webpage. Respondents are encouraged to reply by May 7, 2025, to best assist the Maryland Energy Administration in its FY26 Maryland Solar Access Program design, but will continue to be accepted continuously until the next program round opens in July. Instructions on how to prepare and submit responses can be found in the RFI document. Questions about the Maryland Solar Access Program, including eligibility requirements and how to apply, can be found on the program webpage. They can also be sent via email to SolarAccess.MEA@Maryland.gov. The Maryland Energy Administration promotes clean, affordable, reliable energy and energy-related greenhouse gas emission reductions to benefit Marylanders in a just and equitable manner.
