How to participate:
An interested builder or contractor should:
- Become a Maryland and/or
National ENERGY
STAR partner
- Build or renovate a home to ENERGY STAR standards,. To
become an official ENERGY STAR builder, a firm must first
build a home that meets ENERGY STAR performance standards.
The builder can assure this standard is met by working with
a Certified Energy Rater throughout the planning and construction
phases of a home. After the home is completed, it will have
to be energy rated and score 86 points or higher on E-Star’s
0-to-100 point residential energy efficiency scale. To maintain
a listing through the ENERGY STAR program, a builder construct
a minimum of one ENERGY STAR home every 12 months. See the

- Label
Use the ENERGY STAR logo, consistent with the ENERGY STAR
Identity Guidelines, on products, building sites and promotional
materials to differentiate your energy-efficient product.
- Train
Participate in ENERGY STAR training courses offered to partners
to enhance contractor knowledge of energy efficienct techonologies
and installation techniques.
- Promote
ENERGY STAR offers a variety of marketing resources and
sponsors product-specific national campaigns. Find out how

- Keep Informed
To maintain ENERGY STAR's commitment to energy efficiency,
our specifications are constantly updated. Stay on top of
specifications in development and attend partner meetings.
